I've mentioned this recently to several friends of mine but decided to post it
anyway since I don't meet everyone I know in person all that often. This video
is pretty darn funny. But then again, anything that makes fun of Britney
Spears or Paris Hilton kind of has a leg up in the funny department.

Well, I should probably say at least one doesn't like <a

and part of our conversation went like this:

Microsoft Guy: I need you to install a small utility call Filemon. Can
you Google for that and download and install it?

Me: You don't want me to use Live Search?

Microsoft Guy: Well, if you don't want to find it...

So, he wouldn't use his own companies search engine. I know he's just one guy
and search engines aren't all that there is but it was still somewhat amusing.

Remember Telengard?

Out of the blue I thought of that ancient computer adventure game from the
Commodore 64 days called Telengard. Oh the hours I wasted away in the 80's with
this little gem. I thought the fun was over forever though. I assumed since
the game was so old no one would ever remember it, yet alone port it to
anything modern. It turns out there is a Win32 version of
Telengard to be had. I haven't checked on a Linux version but I imagine it
would run rather well in either Wine or Crossover Office. Oh the nostalgia!

Well, I can't believe I missed it. Just three days ago it was Pi Day and I was asleep at the wheel. I'm not a
math geek and I've never even made the connection of 3/14 being Pi Day until I
saw this posted on boing boing. Apparently they had pointed it out on 3/14 but I missed it.
Still, I don't need much of an excuse to have a celebration and to eat yummy
pies so I think I'll add this day to my calendar.

I wonder if I can push to have this be an official paid holiday at work?

Lunar Eclipse Last Night

<dc:subject>Fun Stuff</dc:subject>

I almost missed it until my mother pointed it out last night. It's been years
since I've seen an eclipse and it was pretty cool now that I'm older and have a
better appreciation of what is really going on. Supposedly it was much better
to view in the southern hemisphere but here in the northern half of the planet
it started out by turning a bazaar light almost blood red color with a strange
opaque shadow over about three quarters of it. Later on it was a normal while
colored mood with a dark shadow making it look like it was either waxing or
waning but the angle of the shadow seemed off from a normal waxing or waning
moon. Since it would normally have been a full moon last night all this was a
bit more dramatic I think.

It's easy to see how ancient cultures would take take events like these as
mystical in nature. Unless you know the scientific explanation watching the
moon turn blood red for no reason can be rather traumatic.

Now this is darn cool! You should check out what this thing does. Obviously
it's a wall projector that looks like R2D2 from Star Wars but it does more
stuff. The Millennium Falcon remote control rocks but I think the fact that you
can use the remote to actually move the R2 Unit around takes the cake. Read

it does.
