Time for another useless test result. ;)

The sorting hat says that I belong in Hufflepuff!

Hufflepuff Crest

Said Hufflepuff, "I'll teach the lot, and treat them just the same."

Stupid Scammers

Every once in a while I like to actually look at the junk my spam filter catches. Today I got yet another scam e-mail, you know, the ones where they have a large sum of money that they need to smuggle out of their country? Yeah, those. Anyway, this one seemed different to me in that it actually had a link to a real world news article on CNN apparently in an attempt to make it look more legitimate. Never mind the horrendous spelling, or the terrible punctuation. I should mention that for spelling and punctuation to be bad enough for me to notice it has to be exceptionally horrible.

BraveNewFilms - Best Obama Quote Ever

According to BraveNewFilms.org Obama said the following:
Democracy demands that the religiously motivated translate their concerns into universal, rather than religion-specific, values. It requires that their proposals be subject to argument, and amenable to reason. I may be opposed to abortion for religious reasons, but if I seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church or evoke God's will. I have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all . . . Politics depends on our ability to persuade each other of common aims based on a common reality. It involves the compromise, the art of what's possible. At some fundamental level, religion does not allow for compromise. It's the art of the impossible. If God has spoken, then followers are expected to live up to God's edicts, regardless of the consequences. To base one's life on such uncompromising commitments may be sublime, but to base our policy making on such commitments would be a dangerous thing.
Now that is exactly what I think we need in our leaders. We are, no matter what some people say, a mixed society of various cultures and religions. Taking this approach seems to be very reasonable.

Busted DS

The used DS I bought a while ago stopped working yesterday. It started randomly turning off and then would not say on more than a second. It was fully charged the night before. I even tried it plugged into the AC and it still would not stay on. Oh well, it died. What do I expect for buying used on eBay? I had rather hoped it would last just a bit longer.

So, I figured I would replace it with a new one and use my old dead one as a trade in to save a few bucks. I tried both Gamestop and Gamecrazy. Gamecrazy wasn't impressive. They only wanted to give my $45 for a 100% working DS with little to no scratches and no missing stylus or charger. It turns out that they don't actually refurbish their used stuff. They just take it for $45 and then put it in the used case and sell it off for $119 or so. On the other hand, Gamestop gives $70 for a 100% working DS and $40 for a broken one. They then take the broken one and send it out for repair to sell for the same $119. Needless to say I took it to Gamestop.

With a trade in of the busted DS and a couple of games I got a new Blue and Black DS for about $70. I was hoping to get the Crimson but they were out and the only other choice was Pink.

I think I would have been better off just buying a new one from the get go.
